Description
Eden F1 Banana is a floor lamps designed by Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda for Rotaliana.
Three large sound–absorbent leaves to which a LED light is magnetically attached. Thanks to their soft padding and their special lining fabric, these leaves not only illuminate with indirect light but also help to improve acoustic comfort. The agreeableness of a room derives mostly from an invisible element that, perhaps because of this, is often neglected: its acoustics. Reverberation and noise can disturb a conversation or a moment of relaxation, can generate uneasiness and even have negative repercussions on our psycho–physical well–being.
Eden is a fantasy vegetation, like that seen in Rousseau “Le Douanier”’s paintings. Three large leaves: the Musa paradisiaca – thus the name given to the banana plant by the ancients – Paradise tree, Adam’s fi g; the oak, the tree sacred to Zeus; the alocasia, that looks like the ear of an elephant. A small domestic Eden, a forest that fi lters light and sound, a space of beauty and well–being created by the fi ltered light and by the acoustic properties of the leaves. The forests painted by the French painter stem from imagination, from dreams of an exotic and primordial paradise where the ferocious tigers are those of the Paris zoo and the exotic trees are stylized grass blades, giant orchids, house plants and off–scale leaves just like those of the Eden collection.
The hidden gardens (hidden in the depths of imagination, as well) are small Edens. Like the nymphaeum of Livia’s Villa: a lost paradise brought back to light after 2000 years thanks to archeological excavation. The nymphaeum is an underground, windowless room frescoed to look like a garden inhabited by birds, and blooming and green all year round. Although lacking windows, the room is full of light and air, thanks to the plants painted on the walls. The garden painted on the walls of the nymphaeum creates a padded space, like the one generated by the Eden lamps, a place where one can enjoy the silence, fancy being immersed in a garden and – with a bit of imagination – hear the wind through the leaves and smell the fragrance of the flowers.
